Electronic Disconnect Differential (EDD)
The EDD is used in electrical driven secondary axle of axle split hybrids, battery
electric AWD or conventional 4WD cars. The EDD is located inside the final drive,
disconnecting the wheels from the final drive when AWD or hybrid function is not demanded.
The disconnecting of the drive close to the wheels with almost no rotating parts in the
transmission provides lowest drag torque and maximum efficiency gain.
